What’s uppppp whores and bores. We’re moving on Saturday, which means this is the last full week at the loft. I never finished showing you around, so in the spirit of “don’t cry because it’s over, smile because it happened,” let’s say our goodbyes together to soften the blow of our collective tremendous loss.
Performing for one last time, give it up for Loft in Pieces:
The landing at the top of the loft stairs — basic but she gets the job done. The shelf was handmade from Etsy, the mug, room spray, and telephone all came from the free table at my old job, and the post card was sent to me by my aunt because she thought the dog on the front looked like my dog. The painting was made by a friend of Hana’s, and the apple box was made by Caroline.
Weirdly I think my favorite part of the whole apartment is this catwalk. It has the height, it has the wood, what more could a girl want in life? Caroline and I share the dresser because neither of our bedrooms have a closet; we got it on Facebook Marketplace for $150 and tried reselling it a few days ago but I was only getting responses from bots so I deleted it out of frustration. The new tenants might buy it from us, so keep your fingies crossed. The mirror was left for us by the previous tenants, and the signed Mama Mia poster was won in an auction by Caroline’s parents. Last year, my grandparents sold their house in Lake Placid fully furnished, but let us take whatever we wanted. My mom took the rug, and I kind of took it from her (she offered, but when I agreed she seemed bummed). But she took it back this weekend so she’s fine.
The posters are classically from the old Amoeba Music location in L.A. (rip). On the right is a giant storage closet that saved our butts this year, and on the left is my bedroom. That little plank next to my room is the catwalk that leads to Caroline’s room (is this confusing?).
The view of Hana’s reupholstered (!) couch from the catwalk.
The dresser lives in front of the infamous Projector Room. It can fit a full sized mattress and not much else, so whoever tells you this is a four bedroom apartment is a dirty liar. Hana got the big rug from Facebook Marketplace, while I got the polar bear rug from the Lake Placid house. My parents brought it for me without telling me they had it, so I didn’t have much choice but to take it. The cushions all came from our old couch that we had in our last apartment, the projector came from Facebook Marketplace, and the stool was bought in a set of three from Craigslist for $60.
I realized I’ve never shown the balcony view before, so here she is in her Freakum Dress.
And finally, this is where the magic has happened every Wednesday for the past almost-year. Visually there’s not a lot going on, but spiritually…..she’s the eighth wonder of the world. Shout out to all my Etsy wall knick knacks, my desk from the Lake Placid house, my chair from Target which I willingly bought in a set of two because I liked it so much, and my Michelle Branch “poster” (page ripped out of People Magazine of her and her husband on their wedding day). And to Shaun White Trash, whom I’ve had for five years. If you look closely, you’ll see that the floor and the wall molding do not match up, which means that Hana and I can have full on conversations with each other from the comfort of our own rooms without having to raise our voices even slightly.

And just like that…the tour is over. I hope you’ve enjoyed the little peaks into our home this past year, and I’m sure by now you understand why I made it my whole personality. I’m really going to miss this place, but I’m so glad I’ll always have this silly little newsletter to remember her by.
A lot of you are probably wondering, “what is The Loftstyle without the Loft?”, myself included. I still have to figure that out tbh. But don’t worry, I’m not leaving just yet—I’m like those kids that graduate high school and get excited to go back and visit their old teachers during winter break but literally not a single one cares if they lived or died. I’ll be back next week with something extra special, so try not to miss me too much, mmkay? Xxxxoooo Loft 5eva <333333
